gModeller for Google SketchUp

gModeller is an innovative Google SketchUpplug-in. It’s easy to use, compatible with most energy and modelling systems and simplifies the process of doing accurate energy analyses and early stage “what-if” scenarios.

gModeller is the only SketchUp plug-in that imports and exports a gbXML file, giving you the flexibility to work across different programs, saving you time and effort.

Using gModeller and Google Sketchup provides a great degree of interoperability with your existing modelling and/or Energy analysis software by removing file formats as a barrier. This gives you the chance to see what combinations of surfacing and materials work in line with any Energy Compliance requirements.

By using Google SketchUp, you can use buildings previously designed within 3DS Max (.3ds), DEM (.dem, .ddf) and AutoCAD (.dwg, .dxf)* for gModeller.

You can quickly import these files into Google SketchUp and then apply your gbXML textures to the model appropriately using the gModeller plug-in.

* Google SketchUp Pro Only

Once your model is textured, gModeller provides interoperability between energy analysis tools, allowing you to use your exported gbXML file for energy analysis in:

gEnergy IES Ecotect
EDSL TAS TRANE TRACE Lesosai 7.1
Green Building Studio DesignBuilder
Any other gbXML compatible software

With gModeller you can:

Make Models in Moments

Turn your existing SketchUp models into gbXML in seconds using our auto convert tools.

Make your models instantly compatible with most energy and modelling systems

gModeller produces gbXML files meaning it’s instantly compatible with many Energy and 3D modelling systems.

Make your models instantly compatible with other gbXML modelling tools

If you wish to view a model designed in a different gbXML modelling tool, you can use gModeller to view and edit, without having to pay hefty license fees and without a steep learning curve to use it.

Import and Export gbXML files

Because you can import and export gbXML files you can use the models you create on a wide range of gbXML tools and applications, saving time and money.

Store, share and backup your model

You can store, share and backup your model to our cloud storage system. You can even use versioning, much like Google Docs. This allows you access to time stamped, previous versions of your model, any time.

Contact colleagues

With a built in messenger and notification system, you can contact your colleagues about your building, regardless of you or your team’s location.

Why Use gModeller?

Common problem:

Although AutoCAD and Revit also have gbXML capabilities, their surface naming convention is produced by an indexing algorithm that is not static. Surface names may change as new surfaces are added or deleted from the model as your design develops. This transient naming convention does not allow you to use the same load model throughout the design. In effect every time you make a change to the model, you make a change to the geometry, which is not practical.

gModeller Solution:

By using gModeller you enable static and custom surface and opening names which enables you to have one geometric model and one load model throughout the design process, allowing ease of use and a solution to this problem.

As a result of using gModeller, Google SketchUp becomes an intelligent solution for low carbon building design. Models can be quickly exported to gEnergyEPC for energy analysis and certification.
